MARCEL MARCEAU PORTRAITS by KENNETH HARI

International portraitist, Kenneth Hari has completed over 25 paintings, drawings and lithographs of Marcel Marceau and all of his portraits of Marcel were from life sittings during the years (circa) 1973-1974.   Marceau posed both in his character as ‘Bip’ and in as himself, which he enjoyed doing for Kenneth Hari.

The portrait sittings took place at The Plaza and later at The Sherry Netherland Hotel in New York City, which was Marceau’s favorite.  He also enjoyed staying in hotel suites in New York, which in those years cost about $150.00 per night.

 Kenneth Hari has said that, “Painting and drawing Marcel Marceau from life sittings was an honor and I value his friendship. He will always be a part of my art.”

 Hari refers to Marceau as, “A true genius.”  Of him, he says, “Marcel, himself, was a living work of art and his spirit will live on as he is part of what we all are.  I will deeply miss him,”  Kenneth said following the passing of Marcel Marceau on September 22, 2007.
