130 YEAR ANNIVERSARY CELEBRATION
SEPTEMBER 4 ~ SEPTEMBER 22, 2007
Exhibition: Three Decades of ArtWork
~~~~~~~~~~~~
BARRON ARTS CENTER is listed on the national Register of Historic Places. Built in 1877, the Barron Library building has been a stalwart landmark at 582 Rahway Avenue in Woodbridge Proper for 130 years. For the past 30 years, this beautiful Richardsonian Revival-style building with stained glass windows and a clock tower has served as a CENTER for the arts for residents of Woodbridge Township and throughout Central New Jersey.
The building's ambience provides an intimate setting for a variety of artistic exhibits, performances and activities. The building is handicap accessible making the BARRON ARTS CENTER enjoyable for everyone to experience the vast variety of the arts, crafts and programs.
Gracing the gallery of the BARRON ARTS CENTER are exhibitions by nationally known artists and artisans along with the work of notable New Jersey artists. Musical performances, in a variety of styles, from solo to ensemble are scheduled throughout the year. A weekly forum for poets, readers and an audience, known as PoetsWednesday has had great attendance for its 25 year history. And there are special exhibitions, such as the annual model train display, which provide something and everything of interest to all community members.
'Friends of the Arts' is a volunteer support group made up of Patrons wanting the opportunity to be involved with the BARRON ARTS CENTER and who volunteer time and services.
